Setup Koneksi Radio Link Motorola Canopy

Setelah beberapa waktu poiting Antena derajat demi derajat, akhirnya si Motorola Canopy Konek juga. Mungkin bagi anda yang sudah terbiasa melakukan pointing dan koneksi link radio, sepertinya tidak masalah. Ada beberapa perangkat yang mudah dikoneksi karena cara koneksinyapun cukup sederhana. Satu perangkat WiFi dijadikan sebagai Access Point dan perangkat yang lain sebagai Bridge atau Universal Repeater atau mode yang lain. Tinggal memposisikan antenna. Model yang seperti ini hampir ditemukan pada berbagai jenis perangkat Access Point antara lain : Senao, DLink, TP Link, Linksys, dll.

Jika anda mungkin pas kedapatan mendapat tugas mengkoneksi dengan perangkat radio Motorola Canopy, mungkin anda sebaiknya membaca manual secara detail atau membaca beberapa referensi tambahan. Motorola merupakan perangkat radio yang dikenal “tangguh” katanya, disamping harganya yang masih selangit, sampai saat inipun sepertinya masih tinggi. Default IP berbeda dengan perangkat WiFi yang biasanya 192.168.X.X tapi menggunakan 169.254.1.1
Tidak ada istilah Access Point dan Bridge, adanya Master dan Slave. sebenarnya Master identik juga dengan mode Access Point dan Slave seperti Bridge
Motorola hanya bisa mendeteksi sinyal dari sesama Motorola saja, jika ada perangkat lain makan tidak bisa diketahui SSID dan frekuensinya berapa. Namun jika pada Mode Slave, Motorola punya fitur Spektrum analizer untuk melihat frekuensi mana yang kosong.
Tools => BHM Evaluation bisa digunakan untuk melihat radio Motorola lain yang di set sebagai Master, dengan berbagai parameter yang bisa dilihat.
Pada saat pointing (menempatkan posisi yang pas), motorola “harus” dipaskan benar arah secara mendatar dan vertikalnya. Ini adalah bagian yang paling sulit, apalagi jika link dengan jarak yang cukup jauh dan juga tingkat interferensi yang tinggi. Beamwidth-nya sangat sempit sehingga harus pas untuk masing-masing antennanya.
Jika sudah terkoneksi bisa menggukana Tool bandwith test, untuk melakukan testing kemampuan upload dan download pada liank tersebut.
Mungkin sebagai tambahan, set kedua radio pada mode slave terlebih dahulu untuk melakukan survey frekuensi yang sudah digunakan disekitar anda dan untuk menentukan frekuesni/kanal mana yang akan adan gunakan.

Its breakthrough map-based visualization capabilities use embedded Google maps, and combine with advanced configuration, provisioning, alerting and reporting features to empower network managers to holistically control the network’s Mesh Wide Area Networks and WLAN access layer, Point-to-Multipoint distribution layer and Point-to-Point backhaul layer. Built-in Security and Optional AES Encryption
Because each radio is pre-programmed with the MAC address of its matched partner, the two ends of a link will communicate only with each other eliminating "man in the middle" attacks. High Performing

On Friday the Indonesian government announced the winners of the 2.3 GHz WiMAX auction.

Of the 73 telecom companies interested, 8 winners were chosen for the 15 franchise zones.

The eight winners are dominant Indonesian telecom operator PT Telkom, PT Indosat Mega Media, PT Internux, PT First Media, PT Jasnita Telekomindo, PT Berca Hardayaperkasa, PT Rahajasa Media Internet (also known as the Indonesian WiMAX Consortium), a consortium comprising PT Comtronics Systems and PT Adiwarta Perdania.

The 15 zones include 3 zones in Sumatra, 4 zones in Java, 2 zones in Kalimantan, and 1 zone in Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Papua, Maluku, Sulawesi and Riau Island. Zones in Greater Jakarta and Banten were the highest priced, while zones in Papua and Maluku were the lowest. The highest bids came from First Media with IDR121.2 billion (12.3 million USD) and Internux with IDR110.03 billion, while Telkom’s bid was the lowest with IDR755 million for Papua and IDR533 million for Maluku.

According to Minister of Information and Communication, Mohammad Nuh, these winners met the minimum criteria for the awards which included ‘sufficient infrastructure’ and usage of a minimum 30%-40% of local products for the deployment.

The Canopy System

The Motorola Canopy Wireless system provides cost-effective high-speed Internet access to residential and business customers alike. The Canopy family of products can help service providers deliver broadband service to local customers as well as improve the utilization of their existing network.

The Canopy broadband wireless platform is highly scaleable and exhibits low susceptibility to interference requiring no elaborate frequency planning and coordination. The Canopy hardware draws little power and its packaging is unobtrusive. The equipment uses antennas of only moderate gain resulting in minimal requirements for aiming the units. Hence, installation is easy, in contrast to many of the higher frequency solutions currently available. Finally, the built-in visual feedback installation indicators allow the unit to be installed by virtually anyone. These characteristics facilitate initial deployment and network expansion as capacity needs increase. Figure 2 illustrates how the Canopy system with its simple equipment makes it easy to build your own Internet access network.

As shown, the system has application for serving enterprise properties, such as schools, municipalities, hospitals and small business campuses. It is also an excellent system for serving residential single family and multi-family housing units with users experiencing data rates in excess of 6 Mpbs per subscriber. The Canopy Wireless system enables broadband access deployment with a wireless point of presence that can be connected directly to broadband infrastructure or indirectly via a wireless backhaul link to fiber or microwave network infrastructure. Figures 2 and 3 depict Canopy in its various configurations (point-to-multipoint and a point-to-point configuration).

A wireless access point can contain anywhere from one to six Canopy sector transceiver(s). Each transceiver delivers 10 Mbps connectivity with up to 200 subscribers per sector, ensuring omnidirectional coverage within a two-mile radius. Six transceivers have an aggregate capacity of 60 Mbps.

To increase capacity beyond 60 Mbps, additional transceivers can be easily co-located on an access point resulting in up to 12 overlapping sectors for aggregate data rates up to 120 Mbps. Transceivers interface with the network infrastructure routers and the subscriber computers via 10 or 100 baseT auto sensed Ethernet.

Bandwidth efficiency is achieved using a proprietary, exceedingly robust modulation scheme that allows for superior co-channel performance and mitigation of interference from other systems operating in the same frequency bands.

Canopy systems are engineered to compensate for the propagation problems associated with common variations in weather such as rain, fog or snow. These problems largely affect the operation of numerous more expensive high bandwidth systems that utilize upper microwave spectrum.

The 5.7 Point-to-Multipoint configurations can support a 5.7 SM with the reflector kit (27RD) The reflector kit increases the transmit and receive gain of the SM by approximately 17 dB, thereby increasing the range between the AP Module and the SM to approximately 10 miles LOS. The Point-to-Multipoint system enables the delivery of broadband access to multiple locations from a single AP Module, each covering approximately 60 Degrees of coverage. The typical system, as shown below, was developed to optimize its performance in high density and low-density environments in the presence of external interference sources. 	The Motorola AP Cluster is a base station that can incorporate between one and six AP Modules and up to two Backhaul Modules (BH). Each module operates with a 60-degree directional antenna to provide coverage to one sector. One of the unique capabilities of the Canopy system is its ability to synchronize the transmission timing of the AP Modules in all of the AP Clusters. The GPS receiver in the CMM is the key to delivering this system level synchronization. The synchronization of the AP transmission along with the specially designed Canopy Time Division Duplex (TDD) air interface ensures that all AP Modules transmit at the same time while all Subscriber Modules (SM) are in a listen mode. This synchronization also ensures that when the SMs are transmitting, all the AP Modules are listening. This synchronization, enabled by the Cluster Management Module (CMM), ensures that the Canopy system does not interfere with itself, since the AP Modules do not interfere with each other and the SMs do not interfere with each other. This unique characteristic delivers an ability to scale the network where Canopy AP Clusters can be added to the network to improve system coverage or capacity without increasing the system interference.


	The Canopy Cluster Management Module is an accessory for use in the Canopy wireless broadband system. It provides all of the necessary power, Ethernet connections, and GPS synchronization for up to 6 Access Point modules as well as 2 Backhaul modules. The Motorola Canopy Cluster Management Module 1008CK includes a GPS receiver, antenna for automatic AP synchronization, and built-in Ethernet switch. It also includes AC power supply.


	The Motorola Canopy Subscriber Module, is the subscriber termination unit or the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). It consists of a single module that operates with an integrated 60-degree antenna. Each SM can communicate to a single AP Module at any given time. SM synchronization and control is accomplished via the received AP signal. SMs are typically located outdoor and Line of Sight (LOS) from the Access Points. Once the SM is initialized, it scans the Radio Frequency (RF) channels and automatically registers with the appropriate AP. Each SM requires a Category 5 cable for its Ethernet connection to the premise IP equipment with DC power supplied to the SM through that same cable. The SM uses a 110 VAC power supply (ACPS110-01 or -02) or the 90V-230V switching power supply (ACPSSW-01) and associated RJ45 connector to power the SM. The Universal Mounting Bracket (SMMB1) is available for mounting the SM to the customer site. One SMMB1 is required for each SM. It is recommended to use a Canopy Ethernet Surge Protector (300SS) mounted at the Ethernet entry point on the outside wall of the premise.

This series of bridges make use of Motorola's proprietary Point-to-Multipoint Wireless Broadband platform modulation scheme to deliver broadband connectivity across distances of up to 35 miles (56 kilometers).
